Terms of use
These terms apply when you read Thoughtsfromheree, copy a loop for your own trip, or send a note through the form. They are written for 2026 and they sit beside the privacy and cookie pages.
The site you are using
Thoughtsfromheree is a personal notebook about travelling in Canada. Pages are published from Halifax at 1559 Brunswick Street, Suite 310, NS B3J 2G1. Contact: [email protected] and +1 902 412 6830, Monday to Friday, 09:30 to 17:30 Atlantic time. By using the public pages you agree to read the notes as information. This is not a booking service or a guided tour.
This site is served by a commercial hosting provider; server logs are kept by that provider for security and diagnostics. Access can be interrupted for maintenance, for a hosting fault, or because a page has been moved. I try to keep the live dispatches reachable. I do not promise uninterrupted uptime.
Informational use
Every dispatch, planning table and season window is a record of what I drove, rode or boarded, plus figures I checked against public schedules and tariffs before publishing. The materials are informational. They help you sketch a Friday-to-Monday loop or a two-week leave. They do not replace the operator’s current timetable, a rental contract, a park closure notice, or the weather you will actually meet.
Prices, ferry slots and road conditions change. A hostel band marked indicative and checked in 2026 can move the following weekend. A pass that was open in August can hold snow in June. You are responsible for the decisions you make on the road: when you leave, what you book, whether you drive after dark, and whether the tires on the car match the season.
No bookings and no tours
Thoughtsfromheree does not sell travel, does not hold ferry inventory, and does not take payment to place you in a hostel. If you send a route pitch, I may reply with a cut or a keep. That reply is still information. It is not a reservation. If a third-party site appears in a sentence, you leave Thoughtsfromheree when you follow that link.
Copyright
Texts, page layouts, the Thoughtsfromheree name as used on this site, and the photographs published in the pages are the copyright of Thoughtsfromheree unless a caption says otherwise. The year of this notice is 2026. You may quote a short passage with a link back to the dispatch when you are writing about your own trip. Wholesale copying of a note, a planning table or a photo for another site needs a written yes from [email protected] first.
Reprint requests should name the page, the use, and the date you want to publish. I will answer on a weekday. Silence is not permission. Removing a byline or cropping a photo to hide the source does not create a right to reuse it.
Your messages
If you send a form note or an e-mail, you confirm that you have the right to send that text and that it is not unlawful, not malware, and not an attempt to inject headers or scripts. I may refuse to engage with a message that is abusive, that asks for a paid placement, or that is obviously automated. The technical rules for the form live on the contact page and in send.php. Form bodies are not stored on this server.
Outbound links
Notes may point to ferry operators, rail sites, park agencies or mapping tools. Those sites are outside Thoughtsfromheree’s control. Their terms, their prices and their privacy practices are theirs. A link is a pointer. It is not an endorsement of every page on that domain, and it is not a promise that the destination will be up when you travel.
Embedded map frames on the contact page are served by the map provider. If that provider is slow or blocked on your network, the address is still printed as text under the frame so you can find 1559 Brunswick Street without the map.
Accuracy and updates
I re-check key figures before a dispatch goes live and I edit when a reader sends a stronger source. That habit does not make the archive perfect. You should re-check the operator or agency site for your own dates. If you find a stale number, use the contact form. I usually correct a clear factual error within two business days and I leave an update line on the page.
Limitation
To the extent Canadian law allows, Thoughtsfromheree is not liable for travel delays, extra nights, missed boats, road closures, or costs you incur after reading a note. You accept that a personal journal can be incomplete. Nothing on this page limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where such a limit is forbidden.
Governing frame
These terms are meant to be read under the laws applicable in Nova Scotia, Canada, and disputes about the site itself should be brought in the courts that have authority there, unless a mandatory rule says otherwise. If a sentence here is held unenforceable, the rest still applies. A later version of this page replaces the earlier one for visits after the update.
