This page explains what Thoughtsfromheree collects when you use the site in 2026, what never leaves the browser, and how to ask a question about your information.
Who is responsible
Thoughtsfromheree publishes this site from 1559 Brunswick Street, Suite 310, Halifax, NS B3J 2G1. You can write to [email protected] or call +1 902 412 6830 on weekdays between 09:30 and 17:30 Atlantic time. This notice covers the public pages, the contact form and the single consent cookie. It does not cover websites you reach through outbound links.
This site is served by a commercial hosting provider; server logs are kept by that provider for security and diagnostics. Thoughtsfromheree does not operate a private mail server for the form and does not run a customer database behind these pages.
What the contact form collects
The form on the home page and on the contact page asks for a name, an e-mail address, a region from a fixed list, a message, and a consent tick. The contact page also asks for a topic from a fixed list. A hidden timestamp records when the page was rendered so the server can reject a send that arrives in under three seconds or after two hours. A hidden “company” field is a honeypot for automated scripts. People should leave it empty.
Those fields exist so I can tell a real note from a bot and so I know whether you are writing about the Atlantic, Québec, Ontario, the Prairies, British Columbia, the North, or you are not sure yet. I do not ask for a payment card, a passport number, a date of birth, or a government identifier. Do not paste those things into the message box.
What happens after you press Send
The script at send.php checks the fields and then redirects you back to the contact page. Form data is not stored on the server and is not sent as e-mail. There is no mailbox drop, no spreadsheet and no database insert. A successful check shows a thank-you notice. A failed check shows an error code so you can fix the field and try again.
Because the contents are not kept, I cannot later retrieve the exact paragraph you typed if you close the tab. If you still need a reply, write again or use [email protected] directly. Treat the on-site form as a one-time hand-off that is discarded after the technical checks finish.
Hosting logs
When your browser requests a page, the hosting provider may record a technical log line. That line can include the time of the request, the address that was asked for, a user-agent string, and a network address. Those logs are used to keep the site up, to diagnose errors, and to notice abusive traffic. Thoughtsfromheree does not use hosting logs to build a marketing profile and does not sell them.
Retention of those logs is set by the provider’s security practice. I can describe the category if you ask. I cannot promise a line-by-line extract from a third-party log store.
Cookies and local storage
The site does not set an analytics cookie and does not load a third-party analytics tag before you make a choice. The only preference the pages remember is your cookie choice, stored in the browser under the key tfh_consent. That value is either accept or decline, and it lasts for twelve months unless you clear it. You can reset the choice on the cookies page. Details of that single item live on the cookies page.
If you decline, the banner hides and nothing else is added. If you accept, the same key is written and the banner hides. In 2026 this site does not attach an extra tracking pixel after accept. The accept path is there so the choice is explicit.
How long information stays
Form posts are not retained on this server after the redirect. Browser storage for tfh_consent stays until you reset it, until twelve months pass, or until you clear site data in your browser. Hosting logs follow the provider’s diagnostic window. I do not keep a side archive of contact names for newsletters, because there is no newsletter sign-up on these pages.
Your requests
You can ask what categories of information this site handles, ask for a correction of something I published about a factual error you sent, or ask me to confirm that form posts are not stored. Send that request to [email protected] from the address you care about, and include enough detail to find the page. I reply on weekday business hours, Atlantic time.
Because form bodies are not kept, I cannot hand back a copy of a discarded post. I can confirm the process and I can delete a published correction credit if you ask me to remove your name from a later edit note. I do not run automated decision-making on readers.
Children and changes
The notebook is written for adults planning travel. I do not knowingly collect information from children through the form. If the way this site handles information changes in 2026, I will update this page. Privacy questions stay at [email protected].
